At the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center we work with creators and innovators to produce powerful events. We reached out to some of our friends in the events industry to get their insight on what summer trends will hit the scene this season: velvet textures; bright, bold colors; monochromatic palettes and revamped late night snacks will be taking over. Be on the lookout for these fresh new trends and read more below about what industry insiders are forecasting to be this season’s hot event trends.
"While bright colors are synonymous with summer, we are seeing a trend towards bolder color palettes."
"In general I think color is making a come back, I am seeing a lot less pastel and soft colors and a lot more bold and bright colors."
"Late night snacks have taken on a life of their own. We have gotten past your typical sliders, soft pretzels, and fries in a paper cone... I have seen a pupusa bar, lobster rolls, cakesicles, make your own mac and cheese bar, chicken and waffle amuse-bouche, miniature Asian takeout in the typical small white box with chop sticks, espresso shots, ice cream sandwiches, etc. These can get really wild and wild goes perfectly with the vibe of the late night crowd drinking and dancing!"
"With social media being such a huge influence to audience perspective of event design, expect to see visually appealing bold colors. We are now in a “sensory overload”. What used to be “overkill” will now be pleasingly aesthetic - an array of a multitude of tones of the same color palette."
"Velvet will be making an appearance at summer soirees. Velvet is no longer just a winter staple – designers are using it to add an element of texture in summer and beyond."
