Meet Our Chef

Executive Chef of the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, Houman Gohary brings 35 years of culinary excellence to DC’s premier events venue–the site for some of the city’s most notable meetings, special events and weddings. With a passion for farm-to-table cuisine and sustainably sourcing ingredients, Chef Gohary has developed an extensive international culinary resume. He’s completed cuisine-specific training programs in Osaka, Barcelona and Torino; supported international restaurant grand openings across the globe; and was a host chef for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Park City, UT. With extensive experience and international training, Chef Gohary now leads the talented in-house culinary team at the Reagan Building.

Creative Menu Concepts

  • The National Cherry Blossom Festival’s signature fundraiser, Pink Tie Party, brings together Washingtonians dressed in their finest pink attire to kick off spring and raise funds to support the Festival’s mission. As an annual sponsor of this event it offers a great opportunity for our culinary team to showcase their creative abilities. The featured “Flower Power,” dish is a take on a Seasonal Salad with Fresh Flowers Toasted à La Minute – the flavor of the edible flowers was enhanced with a homemade nasturtium vinaigrette.  

  • Beginning in the early summer months and into the late fall, Wilson Plaza turns into a bustling farmers market every Friday with lots of local produce vendors at Capital Harvest on the Plaza. Inspired by the Andalusia region of southern Spain, our culinary team locally sourced all of the ingredients needed for this seasonal dish, creating a refreshing Watermelon and Heirloom Tomato Gazpacho Soup. Not only is the presentation cool, but it is the perfect way to refresh during the hot summer months.

  • Our annual client appreciation event, Sparkle Lounge, is a great opportunity for our catering and events team to showcase how our culinary offerings and event spaces can be reimagined and transformed. Our culinary team created miniature cupcakes that resembled succulent plants presented in mini terra cotta planters to complement the botanical, Zen garden event theme. Assorted flavors included Carrot Cake, Red Velvet and Apple Spice.
