Cedrus

Cedrus, a monumental-sized, abstract sculpture by renowned German-American artist Ursula von Rydingsvard is on display in the Amphitheater Foyer on the Concourse Level. Known for her striking, large-scale works crafted from cedar and bronze, von Rydingsvard has built an international reputation for her deeply personal and expressive sculptures. Born in 1942 in Deensen, Germany, she pursued her artistic studies at institutions including Columbia University and the University of California, Berkeley.

Created in 2015, the sculpture was constructed from western red cedar and graphite and stands over 18 feet tall. This installation is part of the U.S. General Services Administration’s (GSA) commitment to integrating fine arts into federal buildings for their Art in Architecture Program, with one-half of one percent of construction costs allocated for commissioned works. This piece has joined RRB/ITC’s distinguished collection of contemporary art, further enhancing the space as a hub of culture and creativity.
